Pleated Skirt in Tartan Check
PRE-ORDER — This item delivers between 15 August and 15 September 2026.
__
The Pleated Skirt is built from four distinct tartan checks — brown, dark green, black and ivory, and blackwatch — cut into panels and pleated together into a single mid-length silhouette. Each panel reads as its own cloth; together they form something more considered than patchwork. The contrast is deliberate and the result is cohesive.
The waistband is tailored and structured, sitting at the natural waist. Suspender-style straps hang from it in contrasting tonal tartan, adding weight and detail without interrupting the movement of the pleats below. The hem is left raw — a finish that will soften and become personal with wear.
Made in Australia from 100% rayon. From Song for the Mute's 26.2 Playground chapter.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Song for the Mute was founded in Sydney in 2010 by Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty — lifelong friends whose contrasting sensibilities define the label. Melvin's precision meets Lyna's embrace of imperfection; the result is clothing built around that tension. The brand works with artisanal mills in Japan, Italy, and France, engineering many of its own fabrics, and releases work in chapters rather than seasons — each one drawn from the founders' own lives.
