Polyhumnia Dress in Pomegranate
Also available to try in our Madrid boutique — Calle Libertad 6
A one-shoulder Grecian midi dress in Pomegranate, finely and permanently pleated in Daphne Valente's signature technique. A draped, blouson bodice gathers asymmetrically over one shoulder, settling into a fitted, figure-skimming skirt below.
Cut from a single piece of fabric with no fasteners and no unnecessary seams, the dress moves easily from afternoon into cocktail hour, worn with sandals or heels, and pairs well with minimal accessories or the brand's own belts and scarves.
Designed to stretch to fit, with a bust up to 115cm and hips up to 120cm.
Color: Pomegranate • One-shoulder Grecian neckline • Draped blouson bodice • Fitted figure-hugging midi skirt • Finely pleated, permanently set
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Daphne Valente is an Athens-based designer who has spent four decades perfecting the art of pleating. Trained at F.I.T. in New York and Central Saint Martins in London, her creative path was set the moment she encountered an exhibition on Mariano Fortuny, whose own pleated Delphos gowns became the starting point for a technique she would spend a lifetime making her own. Drawing on the sculptural forms of Ancient Greek dress, particularly the chiton, she begins each piece as a single rectangle of fabric, draped and sculpted directly on the dress form before it is permanently pleated, with no fasteners and no unnecessary seams. The result is a made-to-move, one-size silhouette designed to flatter any body, championed by a devoted following of Athenian society for decades.
