Matter 07 takes the luminous galaxy Arp 220 as its point of departure. Palo santo and pink pepper open the composition with dry warmth, followed by osmanthus and aromatic thyme. Ambrette and iris create a soft, musky base.

Conceived as a foundational element within ARPA’s olfactory system, Matter is a modular fragrance that can be worn alone or layered with other compositions from the house.

The fragrance is presented as both an object and a ritual. A hand-blown glass bottle with pipette is enclosed within a translucent scented glycerine soap shell and accompanied by a 60 ml fragrance refill and glass funnel. The shell may be retained as an ambient scented object, gradually changing in colour and form in response to its environment.

USE & CARE

• Remove the glass bottle from its glycerine shell and rinse it gently before filling.
• Place the glass funnel into the neck of the bottle and transfer the fragrance from the refill.
• Apply a small amount to the wrists or neck using the glass pipette.
• Wear alone or layer with another ARPA fragrance.
• Rotate the pipette clockwise after use to seal the bottle.
• Store the fragrance away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity.
• The glycerine shell can be retained as an ambient scented object and will naturally change in colour and form over time.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

ARPA is a perfume house and sensory research project founded in 2020 by French perfumer Barnabé Fillion. Conceived as an Institute of Synesthesia, the house explores the points at which fragrance intersects with sound, colour, texture, memory and the natural world. Fillion’s background in botany, phytotherapy, photography and visual art informs an unconventional approach to perfumery. His compositions draw from landscapes, natural phenomena and material research, balancing scientific curiosity with poetic storytelling.
