Meter Dress in Ink
También disponible para probarte en nuestra boutique de Madrid — Calle Libertad 6
A sculptural, one-shoulder gown in deep Ink purple, finely and permanently pleated in Daphne Valente's signature technique. An asymmetric ruffled panel cascades down one side, echoing the fluid draping of Ancient Greek dress, while thin crisscross straps trace an open back.
Cut from a single rectangle of fabric with no fasteners and no unnecessary seams, the dress moves with the body and pools into a soft floor-length train.
Designed to fit one size, from XS to L.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Daphne Valente is an Athens-based designer who has spent four decades perfecting the art of pleating. Trained at F.I.T. in New York and Central Saint Martins in London, her creative path was set the moment she encountered an exhibition on Mariano Fortuny, whose own pleated Delphos gowns became the starting point for a technique she would spend a lifetime making her own. Drawing on the sculptural forms of Ancient Greek dress, particularly the chiton, she begins each piece as a single rectangle of fabric, draped and sculpted directly on the dress form before it is permanently pleated, with no fasteners and no unnecessary seams. The result is a made-to-move, one-size silhouette designed to flatter any body, championed by a devoted following of Athenian society for decades.
